In our Unit 62 area we have taken two Boone and Crockett and two Pope and Young Elk. Colorado’s elk herds are and will stay the largest of all western states. We are the exclusive Outfitter on over 200 Square Miles of Forest Permitted area. The quality of our Elk has risen since the 4-point or better rule. More heavy horned five and six point bulls now exist, they are no longer uncommon in Colorado. In our timber areas there are many springs and wallows to attract and hold the Elk. Our area is very diverse, with open areas that have lots of bunch grass and buck brush, lush meadows hidden in the dark timber and aspen grove areas. There are scattered springs and creeks that hold game in the area. The lower country is full of oak brush that attracts Elk and Mule Deer with the acorns and abundant cover provided. The remote settings and pristine beauty all add to your exciting adventure in the rugged atmosphere of the Rockies! Colorado Elk herds are at an all time high. Thanks to the 4-point restriction our young bulls have been protected and this has given us more mature bulls. Some of these mature bulls will be spotted yearly. You will be hunting adjacent to Unit 61 famous for its trophy elk and deer.

If you haven’t yet experienced a back country hunt, you owe it to yourself. We have many hunting packages available to hunt the majestic monarchs of the Uncompahgre National Forest.
We offer fully guided hunts, 1×1, to semi & unguided packages. We can accomodate 8 – 10 hunters comfortably in our large base camp and 4 or more in our drop camps. To enjoy your hunt to the fullest, hunters should be in good physical condition and willing to work hard. Come and enjoy the hunt of a lifetime in the great Rockies of Colorado.
Although Western Colorado Outfitters does not guarantee all guests their game, we feel each individual has a great chance of filling their tags. Our camps are covered by a radio system for your safety. All of our hunts are conducted on our US Forest Service / BLM Permits. All hunts are fair chase in scenic Colorado.
